James Maund

JAMES MAUND’S BIOGRAPHY James Maund is a trained Architect with over 25 years experience in the field of Architecture. In the late 1990’s James largely put his Architectural practice aside to pursue his interest in starting up an internet business. After running the internet company for approximately 8 years the business was sold enabling him to peruse his growing interest in the environment. In the mid 2000's James began creating the Frogwood Arboretum, www.frogwood.com.au. Frogwood Arboretum is located on 40 hectares of land in the foothills of the Otway ranges in South West Victoria. The focus of the Arboretum is to plant great trees species of the world in groves. Each grove on the Arboretum contains only one species of tree, and only original species, i.e. no cultivars, are planted. James has a particular interest in understanding and documenting what is currently considered best practice in the rehabilitation of rural creeks and streams. To this end he has been closely involved in creek rehabilitation project in rural Victoria where a range of best practice techniques are being trialled since 2006. James is currently the manager for a not for profit incorporated association called Creek link, creeklink.org.au. Creek link provides a simple, colourful mapping tool to local environmental groups like Landcare. The mapping tool enables the environmental groups to map the existing condition of their local waterways as a level of detail which is not currently available.
